Slow keyboard response in IE - Acer Aspire?

Having a serious problem typing when using IE. It seems like I can type two letters then have to wait a second and type two more. Problem is only in IE, not notepad or MS Works. I have a 3 month old Aspire, but this didn't start happening till a couple of days ago. (It took forever just to type this out!) Any help would be appreciated. I'm computer illiterate, so respond like you're talking to a 2nd grader please. Thank you!
